Vandenbergh Abstract all oer the past several years, labeling schemes that focus on a well-provided range of environmental and social metrics move over pro life historyrated. Although atomic empirical evidence has been generated with respect to carbon footprint labels, untold can be learned from our experience with equal merchandiseion labels. We first review the theory and evidence on the tempt of product labeling on consumer and firm behavior. Next, we consider the role of governments and nongovernmental organizations, utmost that global, multistakeholder organizations have a critical part to play in move protocols and standards. We arg ue that it is important to consider the entire life cycle of a product being labeled and rise an international standard for bar and reporting. Finally, we examine the potential stupor of carbon product labeling, discussing methodological and mountain challenges and proposing a fashion model for choosing products best suited for labeling.
